I am a dancer, and have been since I was two years old. I started competing when I was 8, and have competed ever since. I have never been necessarily shy, but I have been more of a listener in big conversations, and can sometimes never seem to find the right time to say something that was on my mind. Most of the time, right before I can say something, the topic of conversation will change. Sometimes I will find myself completely silent when I'm listening to a conversation that people expect me to be speaking in, and not even being aware of it.
Some people view dance as just movement. Someone once asked me, "How could you possibly like dance, its just the same movement over and over again." For me and many other people, dance is a way to express yourself in a way that you cant do with words. You can take almost anything that you're feeling and express it through movement. Whether it's stress, sadness, love, or anger, dance can help you feel better about what it is that you're feeling. Dance has always helped me with this when I couldn't explain how I felt in words, and I think dance is a beautiful talent that many people underestimate
I totally agree that a sport or a hobby can change your life! Dance is mine and I am so thankful I have somewhere to express myself.
