Symbolism

I was driving down the interstate, hurrying to get home for the holidays. I could picture my family anxiously waiting to decorate the Christmas tree. I passed a car and saw the driver mouth "slow down" through the window. Suddenly, I realized how fast I had been driving. I slammed on my brakes and it felt like time was slowing down as a truck hit my car from behind. I slammed forward, hitting my head on the steering wheel and bounding off of it. I don't remember much after that.

I don't know how long I was unconscious, but I woke up to the increasing sound of sirens in the distance. I felt a sharp pain in my neck, the air bag had saved my life. I saw police running down the street to me and the person behind me. I reached for the button to roll my window down. Then, everything went dark again.

The air bag represents God, because God is a savior and a protector.

How to Survive with a Younger Sibling

Knowing how to survive with a younger sibling is very useful in your daily life. Siblings can be picky, annoying, or always seem to be on your last nerve, but you don't want them hating you. That wont go over well with your parents. Life with a little brother or sister is constantly trying to get them to love you and fear you at the same time, which isn't easy. As the big sister or brother, you will probably never be able to get the siblings that are only a couple years younger than you to listen to you. They realize that you don't have very much seniority over them, and that they do not have to listen to you. Getting control over the toddler age isn't so easy either. Even if you were told by your parents to watch them, and they know that you are in charge for that amount of time, they still will not want to listen. If you want the little ones to listen, you can't be the fun sibling all the time. You should show them that you have been put in charge, and tell them they should respect you... or just tell them that any bad behavior will be reported to mom and dad when they return. Your life is always easier when they fear you... just a little bit.

Getting your little siblings to love you is the easy part. Show them that you love them, despite all the ways they annoy you. Play games with them, talk to them. If you're away, call them just to see how they are. You should establish a trust with them, so they know they can tell you anything. You can show them that you trust them by telling them things you would never tell anyone else. You're the big kid in the family, your younger sisters and brothers will do anything to get your trust and love. All they need is trust, some good times, some love, and you, their favorite sibling.

The holidays

One of my favorite family holiday traditions, is our annual beach trip with my dads side of the family.   My grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and cousins all go to Destin together each year. We go sometime between Thanksgiving and New years. There are always many people there, because my dad has 5 brother and sisters, each one of of his siblings has at least three kids. We usually have to rent a long rows of houses on the beach that are connected.

Whether were watching black Friday commercials, or Christmas movies, everyone is always having a  good time when we are at the beach together. My cousins and I always try to see who can stay in the freezing cold ocean water the longest, and sometimes, we'll bundle up in sweatpants and sweaters and  sit on the beach for hours. Each day, someone will cook breakfast, lunch and dinner for everyone and we will all eat together. One night, we will go to Baytown to eat and zip line. I enjoy this beach trip because it creates family memories that we never forget, and I'm thankful l for it.

Lord of the flies critical scene

One of the most critical scenes in Lord of the Flies is when Ralph and Jack are fighting at the top of Castle Rock in chapter 11. This scene is important because it is intense, with lots of details that prepare the reader for the ending of the book. In the moments before the fight, Piggy gets everyones attention in attempt to keep the two tribes from conflict. Like always, nobody listened to Piggy and continued. I find it important that Roger had his hand on the lever for the rock, waiting for a chance to send it flying. This foreshadows that something bad could quite possibly happen soon. This event foreshadowed Piggy's death.

It is clear that the scene is scary and intense from Piggy repeating, "Ralph, don't leave me!" starting on page 176. In the moments before his death, Piggy gives respect to Ralph and his tribe, and tells Jack's followers to consider which tribe was better. He explains this by saying, "Which is better--- to be a pack of painted Indians like you are, or to sensible like Ralph is? Which is better---to have rules and agree, or to hunt and kill? Which is better, law and rescue, or hunting and breaking things up?" (page 180) This scene is important to the novel because it has the most amount of conflict, and many important things happen, and are said in this scene.

Write about how a sport or hobby changed your life.

I am a dancer, and have been since I was two years old. I started competing when I was 8, and have competed ever since. I have never been necessarily shy, but I have been more of a listener in big conversations, and can sometimes never seem to find the right time to say something that was on my mind. Most of the time, right before I can say something, the topic of conversation will change. Sometimes I will find myself completely silent when I'm listening to a conversation that people expect me to be speaking in, and not even being aware of it.

Some people view dance as just movement. Someone once asked me, "How could you possibly like dance, its just the same movement over and over again." For me and many other people, dance is a way to express yourself in a way that you cant do with words. You can take almost anything that you're feeling and express it through movement. Whether it's stress, sadness, love, or anger, dance can help you feel better about what it is that you're feeling. Dance has always helped me with this when I couldn't explain how I felt in words, and I think dance is a beautiful talent that many people underestimate

LOTF paragraph analyzation

The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away.  Once there was this and that; and now--and the ship had gone. [... Jack refusing to give Piggy the floor when he has the conch...]
"The rules!" shouted Ralph.  "You're breaking the rules!"
"Who cares?"
Ralph summoned his wits.
"Because the rules are the only thing we've got!"
But Jack was shouting against him.
"Bollocks to the rules!  We're strong--we hunt!  If there's a beast, we'll hunt it down!  We'll close in and beat and beat and beat--!" (91)

I interpret this paragraph in Lord Of the Flies as that the boys have been on the island so long that it feels like the world with rules and organization was almost gone. The were upset because the ship that could have rescued them was gone, and some hope of rescue was lost. Piggy was holding the conch shell, and Jack would not let him speak. Ralph was trying to make Jack follow the rules, because the rules they the boys on the island lived by, was the only form of organization they had left. Ralph knew that if the rules weren't followed, then they would be far away from ever living like the people off the island.

Jack believed differently from Ralph, probably because he is power hungry and wanted attention. Jack believed that if they were strong, and hunted, then they could act as like people did in the "real world". Jack doesn't understand that the rules are keeping them somewhat civilized, and are needed on the island. He thinks the rules should be disregarded altogether. If Jack was in charge on the island, things would be going much worse than they are with Ralph in charge.
