Week 2 reading response to Lord Of The Flies
I am on chapter 3 of Lord of the Flies, and so far, I think the book is okay. I enjoy reading about the description of the island that the boys are stranded on. I thought it was interesting how the boys used the conch shell to call all the people on the island. The conflict and disagreement between the boys make the book interesting also. I want to see if the kids keep fighting, or they agree and work things out for the sake of their survival.
The boys have said that they wanted to have fun on the island since there are no grownups, but they aren't doing a great job of taking care of themselves. In only 24 hours, they had started a forest fire, and accidentally killed a boy with it. Jack and Piggy do not get along, because they are fighting for the approval of Ralph, and not focused on getting help. Jack needs to bring his ego down a notch, and let Ralph make the decisions, since ehe was chosen to be in charge. I think these boys will have to work out an organized system soon, or they wont survive much longer.
Human Nature
I believe that human nature mainly refers to characteristics that distinguish humans from other species. Human nature can also describe the way that humans naturally act or think. If people were to act opposite of the human nature norms, they would be considered crazy, ill, etc. I believe humans are supposed to be good, and loving at birth, but sadness and anger probable become an aspect of someones personality very quickly. While all emotions might not be exactly considered as human nature, life events that cause these emotions are common, and therefore, not surprising or odd.
When I walk down a street, I notice that almost all people are civilized in some sort. Usually, nobody is going crazy, or running down the street, destroying things. Realizing this leads me to believe that the general presence of human nature sets boundaries, or a specific way a person should act throughout their life. All humans need water, air, and food to survive, these are the bare necessities for human nature. As we all have, I have seen many different people with different emotions. This leads me to think that human nature causes us to act sad when something bad happens, and happy when something good happens, angry when you're mad, etc. Human nature doesn't have defined laws, but gives us all an outline of what we should act like.

fall break
Over fall break I went to Disney World. I went with my family, and some of our close family friends were there too. The trip was last minute, so my sister and I had to make reservations for restaurants and book fast passes for rides quickly. We got there on Wednesday afternoon and stayed in Magic Kingdom till 2 am. The lines were pretty short, so we were able to ride many rides. On Thursday we went to Epcot in the morning, and went to Magic Kingdom that night for Mickeys Not so Scary Halloween Party. At this party, they show special halloween themed parades and fireworks, and have candy stops around the park for people to trick or treat. My sister, Juliana, and I dressed up like disney princesses, but we were the only people in our group who wanted to dress up. Though trick or treating and watching the parade sounded fun, we all knew that while everyone was participating in those activities, that the lines for rides would be short, so we took advantage of every second. During the parade, we all decided to go ride space mountain. When we got there, the cast member told us that the ride had been closed temporarily, so we decided to ride the people mover since it was close, and to eat our candy. The people mover is a slow, chill ride that takes you on a tour of tomorrow land. The coolest part is when it takes you inside of space mountain. Space mountain is a roller coaster in a pitch black building, and just minutes earlier, we were talking about how we would love to see it with the lights on. As we entered space mountain on the people mover, we were amazed. The lights had been turned on because it had been shut down. It was very cool, we even rode the people mover again to see it another time.
On Friday morning, we went to Animal Kingdom, we rode Expedition Everest four times, and ate at an Asian themed restaurant for lunch. That night, we went to Hollywood studios. The lines were so long, but we were lucky enough to get fast passes early. After we used our fast passes, me, juliana, and our friends snuck into fast pass lines so that we didn't have to wait 200 minutes to ride. We all got ice cream and popcorn and watched the fire works on our last night. We rode rock n rollercoaster about 3 more times, then took a boat back to the hotel. In the hotel, we ate at an amazing restaurant called Il Mulino, which was a great way to finish off our trip. The trip was short, but action packed, and we all had lots of fun.

reading response. quarter 2 week 1
I am reading the Heir by Kiera Cass. I am close to finishing this book and the book has gotten really interesting. The main character is trying to choose between guys, and still doesn't know if she will shut the selection down after three months. The three month is coming up soon and there are not many guys left. The whole book, she has been set on stopping the selection as soon as she could, but she might have feelings for some of the guys now.
I enjoy the suspense of not knowing what the the main character will decide about her selection process. I like getting to know the boys who are fighting for her, and selecting my personal favorite, and it gets me excited when something good happens to that character. I can't wait to see who is chosen to be the prince and why. This book has been a great read and I'm upset its coming to an end. I am really excited to read the end of this book.

Procrastination response
I am absolutely a
procrastinator. I often wait until the last minute to do assignments or work.
When I decide to put things off until the last minute, I am putting stress on
my future self. Sometimes I realize in the moment that I shouldn’t be
procrastinating because it will be harder later, but I always tell myself that
it probably won’t be that bad, but I am always wrong. I never seem to learn my
lesson from procrastinating, and I keep doing it.
I believe one of the reasons that
I am a procrastinator is because I am naïve. I think of myself as stronger than
I really am when it comes to getting things done quickly. When telling myself
that the task will be easy for my future self to do, I am often not realizing
the burden I am putting onto my future self. Procrastinating school work can
result in bad grades and sometimes I don’t think that through. I believe that
procrastination can be overcome by having regard for your future self, and
trying hard to accomplish tasks as soon as you get chance to complete them.

Disney World
Ever since I was little, my grandfather has always loved to take my sister and I to Disney World. He took us at least twice a year and our whole family fell in love with it. We love how happy it is, and the smells of ll different kinds of food, and the crazy rides that we could ride over and over again. We love it so much, that our family decided to buy season passes so that we could go whenever we felt like it. Whenever we have a few days off school, we'll drive or fly up to Orlando.
My sister and I have learned lots of things about Disney. We know exactly where everything is and we could navigate through the park with out eyes closed, we know where to get the food that actually tastes decent, and which monorails and busses to take. We have studied the fast pass system so much that we know more than some employees. We know how to make sure that we get to ride the rides through the fast pass lines, way more than we signed up for, (I cant give away our secrets). I always enjoy going to Disney World because I always have the best time, no matter now many times I go. It's our go to place, that we all never outgrow.
Reading Response. Week 6
I have been reading the Heir by Kiera Cass. I am really enjoying this book so far. In class, we recently learned about question levels and how to identify them. We identified many questions that we had in Harrison Bergeron, and I found that interesting. I have had lots of questions about my independent reading book, that consisted on level one, two, and three questions.
I have had questions like, who will the main character choose as her husband, will anybody fall in love, and will the selection be called off after 3 months. These are considered level one questions because I know that they will most likely be answered by the end of the book. It is hard to identify most questions that I have, because I don't know if some of them will be answered in the text. These questions are about the actions of minor characters, and important things that happened in the beginning of the book, that haven't been brought up since. I'm excited to finish this book and to see how everything works out, and see if my questions are answered.
